FAST ‘09-7th USENIX Conference on File and Storage Technologies

The 7th USENIX Conference on File and Storage Technologies (FAST ‘09) focuses on storage system researchers and practitioners to explore new directions in the design, implementation, evaluation, and deployment of storage systems.

FAST ‘09 starts on Tuesday, February 24, with four half-day tutorials that briefs the opportunity to learn from leaders in the storage industry including:

  • Clustered and Parallel Storage System Technologies
    Brent Welch and Marc Unangst, Panasas
  • Security and Usability: What Do We Know?
    Simson Garfinkel, Naval Postgraduate School
  • Storage Class Memory, Technology, and Uses
    Richard Freitas, Winfried Wilcke, Bülent Kurdi, and Geoffrey Burr, IBM Almaden Research Center
  • Web-Scale Data Management
    Christopher Olston and Benjamin Reed, Yahoo! Research

Beginning on Wednesday, February 25, the technical program opens with the Keynote Address by Alyssa Henry, General Manager of Amazon Simple Storage (S3). The technical program also contains 23 refereed papers, plus Work-in-Progress Reports (WiPs) and a poster session.

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BoFs) will take place Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Slots are filling up quickly. Check out the full schedule and submit a BoF.
